She is known mostly for her drama roles but award-winning
actress Meryl Streep is back on the big screen once again to show us that she still
has flares for comedy and music (remember Mama Mia?). In Ricki and the Flash, Streep will rock our lonely world and teach us
that it is never too late to get right.
Ricki Rendazzo is an aging guitar heroine and on her road to
rock-and-roll stardom, she had made terrible mistakes. One of which is abandoning
her family. But when her ex-husband Pete asks her to visit Chicago, Ricki finds
a chance for redemption and make things right, especially in helping her
divorced daughter Julie through a difficult time. And music may be Ricki’s
means to reunite with her family.
Alongside Meryl Streep, her real-life daughter Mamie Gummer
stars as Julie in the film. Other casts include Kevin Kline, Sebastian Stan,
Rick Springfield and Ben Platt. Directed by Jonathan Demme, Ricki and the Flash is scheduled to be
released on August 7, 2015.
