    First Peek: Mr. Holmes (2015)

Our beloved detective is back on the big screen. But don’t expect a muscular hunk because this time, we will see an old version of Sherlock Holmes in action. Based on Mitch Cullin’s 2005 “A Slight Trick of the Mind,” Mr. Holmes is about the detective’s attempt to right some mistakes in his early life.

The film is set in 1947. Sherlock Holmes, age 93, retires in his farmhouse in Sussex with his housekeeper Mrs. Munro and her young son Roger. The detective now tends to his bees and writes in his journal, especially about some fateful events during his visit to Japan. With Roger’s help, Sherlock will revisit the unsolved case that forced him into retirement while searching answers about love and life before it’s too late.

Ian McKellen stars as Sherlock Holmes. Along with him in the cast are Colin Starkey, Laura Linney, Hattie Morahan, Hiroyoki Sanada and Milo Parker as Roger Munro. Directed by Bill Condon, Mr. Holmes will be released on June 19, 2015.
