    First Peek: The Danish Girl (2015)


    The Danish Girl is a biographical drama film based on the David Ebershoff’s 2000 novel of the same title. It revolves around the intriguing love story between Einar Wegener (Eddie Redmayne) and Gerda Wegener (Alicia Vikander) in the early 1920s Copenhagen. After standing in for a female model, Einar rises to prominence and becomes the first recipient of male to female sex reassignment surgery. Their marriage remains solid until a childhood friend, Hans Axgil (Matthias Schoenaerts), enters the picture.


    The movie was screened in the main competition section at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival and later shown at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Tom Hooper, the film is scheduled for a limited release on November 27, 2015 by Focus Features.
